NAME
     musicplayer - desktop music playback application

SYNOPSIS
     musicplayer [filename]

DESCRIPTION
     musicplayer is skinnable desktop music player, which plays sound files
     using sgi audio hardware.

     The following sound file formats are supported:

	  MPEG-1 layer I, II, III (.mpa, .mpg, .mp2, .mp3) *

	  AIFF	(.aiff) and AIFF-C  (.aifc)

	  Sun/NeXT (.au, .snd)

	  Microsoft RIFF WAVE (.wav)

	  Sound Designer II

	  BICSF (IRCAM)

	  Audio Visual Research (.avr)

	  Amiga IFF/8SVX (.iff)

	  SampleVision (.smp)

	  Creative Labs, Inc. Creative Voice (.voc)

     * MPEG Layer-3 audio decoding technology licensed from Fraunhofer IIS
       and Thomson.

     The graphical user interface provides "Play", "Stop", "Pause, "Track
     Rewind", and "Track Forward" buttons.  It also has shuffle and repeat
     playback options, as well as a user defined playlist.  If the program is
     invoked without the filename argument, the user may open an input file
     using the "Open Files" button.

     The play position in the file is controlled with a position slider
     presented in the user interface. The play position can be changed be
     either dragging or clicking on the new location in the slider area.

     help provided via the "Help" menu.
