LIB$PUT_OUTPUT (OpenVMS) LIB$PUT_OUTPUT (OpenVMS)
NAME
printf, fprintf - print formatted output
sprintf - printf formatted output to buffer
LIB$PUT_OUTPUT - Output string by descriptor
EXPLAINATION
The Digital UNIX printf function is similar to the OpenVMS LIB$PUT_OUT‐
PUT library routine. The printf function will print the format string
passed to it as the first argument to the standard output. See the
printf(3) manual page for details on the format of the string. The
fprintf function prints to a file opened with the fopen family of func‐
tions or to the standard output (stdout) or the standard error (stderr)
streams. The sprintf function directs its output into the buffer
passed as the first argument. The resulting string in the buffer is
terminated with a nul character.
