NAME
wlmsapmap - Retrieves SAP process IDs to enable HP-UX WLM to manage and
       prioritize SAP workloads.

SYNOPSIS
       map_file "process_type"

DESCRIPTION
is a WLM process ID finder utility that is part of the WLM SAP Toolkit
(SAPTK). Use this script in	conjunction with WLM's process map
(procmap) feature. identifies the processes for an SAP	instance, and
in turn WLM (procmap) places the processes in workload groups managed
by WLM.	SAP has several process types, including dialog (DIA), batch
(BTC), and update (UPD). Depending on which options you specify,
returns a list of process IDs either for an entire SAP instance or for
just a	subset	(the specified process types) of the instance's pro‐
       cesses.

       Values you specify for include:

	      · (Required) Map file to collect SAP process IDs for a specific
SAP instance; you specify the SAP instance in the file name

	      · (Optional) One or more SAP process types for which process
IDs are to be collected in the map file

The map file is created by Serviceguard extensions for	SAP (SGeSAP).
Each entry of the map file consists of two fields: an SAP process type
and an SAP process ID. The entries are in the following format:

	    process_type:process_id

       where

	      · process_type is the SAP process type such as batch	(BTC),
		 dialog (DIA), or update (UPD).

	      · process_id is the process ID (PID).

If you	specify the option (to identify process types), parses each
entry of the map file to compare the process type with those that are
specified on the command line. If the process types match, adds the
corresponding process ID to a list that is printed to stdout.	SGeSAP
writes the map file to the specified location using the following for‐
       mat:

       /etc/cmcluster/SID/wlmprocmap.SID_SAPinstance_hostname

       where

SID Is the SAP system ID

SAPinstance Is the SAP instance name

hostname Is the system on which SAP is running

For example, the following file contains SAP data for instance D01 of
SAP system C11 running on node1:

		 /etc/cmcluster/C11/wlmprocmap.C11_D01_node1

OPTIONS
       Displays usage information and exits.

(Required) Specifies the map file to collect the SAP process IDs and
       types.
Specified without a process type (process_type),	the map file
collects	an entire SAP instance that can be isolated into an
	      associated WLM workload group.

       "process_type"

(Optional) Specifies one or more SAP process types within an SAP
instance	which can be assigned to a workload group. For exam‐
ple, both batch (BTC) and dialog	(DIA) process	types can be
assigned	to a single workload group. WLM can then allocate
resources to the workload group based on	the restrictions you
	      specify.

The quotes are	not required when specifying only one process
type. When specifying multiple process types, you must separate
process types with a comma and enclose the entire argument in
quotes (for example, -t "BTC,DIA"). Otherwise, the WLM	parser
will mistake the comma as a process map record.

EXAMPLES
For examples showing how to use see the the white papers "Using HP-UX
Workload Manager with SAP" and "SAP and HP-UX Workload Manager:	Poten‐
       tial use cases" available from:

	    http://www.hp.com/go/wlm

The "Using HP-UX Workload Manager with SAP" white paper is also avail‐
       able from:

	     /opt/wlm/toolkits/sap/doc/sap_wlm_howto.html

Also see the following example configuration files provided in
       /opt/wlm/toolkits/sap/config/:

	      isolate_sap.wlm
Demonstrates how WLM	can isolate SAP workloads and
allocate CPU resources based on workload usage. This
configuration file isolates an entire SAP system by
			using a single user record.

	      split_inst.wlm
Demonstrates how WLM can collect SAP instances	within
the same SAP system and separate them into different
workload groups, using	WLM's process	map (procmap)
feature. WLM allocates CPU resources based on workload
			usage.

	      split_procs.wlm
Demonstrates how WLM can separate different types of
SAP processes	into separate	workload groups, using
WLM's process map (procmap) feature. WLM allocates CPU
			resources based on workload usage.

RETURN VALUE
returns an exit status of if no errors occur, or a non-zero value if an
error occurs. When executed as a PID finder in a WLM configuration
file, exits when shuts down or is reconfigured.
