NAME
     rdrtc - Read the real-time clock

SYNOPSIS
     #include <time.h>
     u_int64_t rdrtc(void);

DESCRIPTION
     rdrtc() reads the value of the system's real-time clock (RTC). This
     function maps the RTC into the application address space and returns the
     current value. Unlike clock_gettime(CLOCK_SGI_CYCLE,) it returns the raw
     counter value. To find the number of bits the counter supports the
     application may call syssgi() with the SGI_CYCLECNTR_SIZE request. This
     function is SGI specific, is not portable, and may not work on future
     platforms.

HISTORY
     rdrtc() was added in IRIX 6.5.19.

SEE_ALSO
     clock_gettime(2), realtime(5), syssgi(2), timers(5)
