PMDAXVM(1)PMDAXVM(1)NAMEpmdaxvm - XVM performance metrics domain agent
SYNOPSIS
/var/pcp/pmdas/xvm/pmdaxvm [-d domain] [-l logfile]
DESCRIPTIONpmdaxvm is a Performance Metrics Domain Agent (PMDA) which exports XVM
volume element and physical volume performance metrics (IO operations per
second and throughput), as well as other metrics specific to each of the
striped, mirrored, and concatenated volume types.
A brief description of the pmdaxvm command line options follows:
-d It is absolutely crucial that the performance metrics domain number
specified here is unique and consistent. That is, domain should be
different for every PMDA on the one host, and the same domain number
should be used for the same PMDA on all hosts.
-l By default a log file named xvm.log is written in the directory
where pmdaxvm is started, i.e. since pmcd(1) makes /var/adm/pcplog
(or $PCP_LOGDIR if set in the environment) its current directory,
the default logfile for pmdaxvm is ${PCP_LOGDIR-
/var/adm/pcplog}/xvm.log. If the log file cannot be created or is
not writable, output is written to standard error instead.
The -l option specifies an alternative name for the log file.
INSTALLATION
In order for a host to export the names, help text and values for the xvm
performance metrics, do the following as root:
# cd /usr/pcp/pmdas/xvm
# ./Install
If you want to undo the installation, do the following as root:
# cd /usr/pcp/pmdas/xvm
# ./Remove
pmdaxvm is launched by pmcd(1) and should never be executed directly.
The Install and Remove scripts notify pmcd(1) when the agent is installed
or removed.
