ndp(1M)								       ndp(1M)

NAME
     ndp - neighbor discovery display and control

SYNOPSIS
     ndp [ -n ] hostname
     ndp [ -n ] -a
     ndp -d hostname
     ndp -s hostname ether_addr [ temp ]
     ndp -i filename

DESCRIPTION
     The ndp program displays and modifies the Internet-to-Ethernet address
     translation tables used by the IPv6 neighbor discovery protocol.
     (ndp(7P)).

     With no flags, the program displays the current NDP entry for hostname.
     The host can be specified by name or by number, using IPv6 textual
     notation.

     The ndp flags are:

     -a Display all of the current NDP entries.

     -d hostname
	 A superuser can delete an entry for the host called hostname.

     -s hostname ether_addr
	 Creates a NDP entry for the host called hostname with the Ethernet
	 address ether_addr. The Ethernet address is given as six hexadecimal
	 bytes separated by colons. The entry is permanent unless the word
	 temp is given in the command.

     -i interface_index
	 Specify the index of the interface to use when a NDP entry is added
	 with the -s flags.

     -n Causes mapping of IP addresses to hostnames to be suppressed.

EXAMPLES
     Command lines are followed by the output.

     A completed successful entry:

	  # ndp moose
	  moose (3ffc::a00:69ff:fe02:7c90) at link#1 8:0:69:2:7c:90

     A completed successful entry that is marked permanent:

	  # ndp rainbow
	  rosewood (3ffc::a00:69ff:fe02:7b7d) at link#1 8:0:69:2:7b:7d permanent
