MKBSDPR(1M) Impressario MKBSDPR(1M)

NAME
mkbsdpr - register a BSD printer with LP

SYNOPSIS
     mkbsdpr [-h] [-v] [-l] lp_printer bsd_printer

DESCRIPTION
mkbsdpr registers a BSD spooling system printer with the System V
spooling system. This provides the ability to submit a print job via
System V and have that job printed on a BSD based printer.

lp_printer is the name you wish to give the System V printer (see
lpadmin(1M)). bsd_printer is the name of the BSD spooling system printer
     (see lpr(1)).

mkbsdpr should be executed only after installing the BSD spooling system
software and configuring the BSD printer (see printcap(4)).

mkbsdpr creates a System V printer interface program to communicate with
BSD print spooler. This interface program will normally keep a log of its
activities in the file /var/spool/lp/log.	The -l option causes the
interface program to keep its log in /var/spool/lp/etc/log/lp_printer-log
instead. The -v option causes the interface program to keep a more
     verbose log.

After running this program, you might consider making this printer the
     default printer using lpadmin(1M).

NOTES
     1. mkbsdpr only provides connectivity from the System V print spooler
to BSD print spooler. The program cannot be used for installing or
	  registering a local BSD printer.

     2. This command can only be used by the system administrator.

FILES
     /var/spool/lp/log
     /var/spool/lp/etc/log/lp_printer-log
     /var/spool/lp/interface/lp_printer
     /var/spool/lp/model/bsdface
