mkbsdnetpr(1M) Printing Tools mkbsdnetpr(1M)

NAME
mkbsdnetpr - provide access to a remote printer using the BSD printing
     protocols

SYNOPSIS
     mkbsdnetpr [<local printer name>] [<remote host>] [<remote printer name>]

DESCRIPTION
mkbsdnetpr provides access on a local machine to a printer that is
connected to a networked remote machine. The BSD printing protocols are
used to communicate with the remote machine. mkbsdnetpr can be run either
     interactively or in batch mode.

mkbsdnetpr will run interactively if any or all of its command line
arguments have not been specified. mkbsdnetpr will prompt for any
     missing command line arguments.

local printer name is the name you wish to give the printer on your
machine (see lpadmin (1M)). (local printer name is setup using the lp
spooler on the SGI). remote host is the name of the machine that has the
printer physically attached to it. Note that this machine must be
accessible over the network. remote printer name is the name of the
     printer on the remote machine.

After running this program, you might consider making this printer the
default printer using lpadmin(1M). This command is only usable by the
     system administrator.

NOTE
Network printing to a remote system is achieved by submitting the print
job to the local lp print spooler. The interface file for the local
printer submits the print job to the remote printer using the
     netprint(1M) utility.

Make sure that you have access to the remote system. Typically, this is
done by adding an entry for the local system to the /etc/hosts.equiv or
/etc/hosts.lpd file on the remote system.

FILES
     /usr/spool/lp/log
     /usr/spool/lp/interface/<local printer name>
