ICONBOOKTOCATALOG(1) ICONBOOKTOCATALOG(1)

NAME
iconbooktocatalog - converts old iconbook pages to IRIX 6.5 format

SYNOPSIS
     /usr/lib/desktop/iconbooktocatalog
	  [-convertUserPages | -convertSystemPages ]

DESCRIPTION
The command, iconbooktocatalog, is for use internally by iconcatalog.
This program converts the pre-IRIX 6.3 format to post-IRIX 6.3 format.

In IRIX 6.2 and earlier releases, an iconbook page is represented by a
file and each line in the file represents an icon on that page. In IRIX
6.3 and later releases, an iconcatalog page is represented by a directory
and each symbolic link in that directory is an icon on that page. There
are user pages and system pages to be converted.

The system pages are converted at the end of the installation of IRIX
6.5. The files under /usr/lib/iconbook/syspages are converted to
subdirectories under /usr/lib/desktop/iconcatalog/pages/C. The lines in
those files are converted to symbolic links inside those directories.
Then the iconbook directory is removed.

The user pages are converted when the user first launches iconcatalog
after IRIX 6.5 is installed. When iconcatalog is launched, it checks for
the existence of $HOME/.desktop-<hostname>/iconcatalog. If it does not
exist, and $HOME/.desktop-<hostname>/iconbook directory does, it calls
iconbooktocatalog. This converts iconbook file formats and creates
     subdirectories in $HOME/.desktop-<hostname>/iconcatalog/pages. Unlike
the conversion of system iconbook pages, the user's iconbook directory is
not removed. This allows a user with a home directory that is shared
     between a pre-IRIX 6.3 and a post-IRIX 6.3 machine, to use both iconbook
     and iconcatalog applications.

     iconbooktocatalog accepts the following options.

     -convertUserPages
This converts icon book user pages to iconcatalog user pages.

     -convertSystemPages
This converts icon book system pages to iconcatalog system pages.

     see the IID(1) man page.

CAVEATS
This executable is purely for internal use for iconcatalog to work
smoothly when upgrading from IRIX 6.2 and earlier releases to IRIX 6.5.
