NAME
     ftr2mime - utility to generate mailcap and mime.type files from ftrs

SYNOPSIS
     ftr2mime [-d file.otr] [-o <mime.type> <mailcap>]

DESCRIPTION
     ftr2mime is a utility used to generate mailcap and mime.type files from
     the file typing rules. This tool is now used to update the files,
     whenever new software is installed on the system, or whenever the FTR
     databases are updated. By default it looks in the desktop FTR database,
     /usr/lib/filetype/desktop.otr for generating the MIME type information.
     Users can also specify a different database with the -d option. If the
     output file option, -o is not given, this tool prints the information
     onto the standard output.

     ftr2mime goes through all the types in the given FTR database, and checks
     if the MimeType mapping rule exists. It then gets the DefaultExtension
     and AltExtensions for the exts extensions, and MimeTypeIcon for icon, to
     generate the mime.type file.

     ftr2mime generates the mailcap file by extracting the following
     information from the FTR rules:

	 LEGEND	       for description
	 MimePlay      for the MIME type action
	 MimeCompose   for compose
	 MimeBitmap    for x11-bitmap
