NETIFMANAGER(1M) NETIFMANAGER(1M)

NAME
     NetIfManager - Network Interface Manager

SYNOPSIS
     /usr/sysadm/bin/runcatalog /usr/sysadm/catalogdf/SaNetIfCatalog.cdf

DESCRIPTION
Managers display information about your system and provide access to
interactive guides (also called tasks) that let you administer your
     system.

The Network Interface Manager displays a list of network interfaces, that
are currently installed on your system. It also allows you to get the
interface status, and configure an interface using the Set Up and Start
     Networking guide.

In the Manager window, you can open a guide by choosing its name from the
Task menu or by clicking its button at the bottom of the window.

GUIDES
Guides, also called "tasks," are interactive windows that lead users
through the steps necessary to perform various system administration
tasks, such as adding new user accounts and configuring networking on the
     system.

A guide typically consists of a series of pages that prompt users to
enter information or select options. A user navigates through guide pages
using the Prev and Next buttons (or corresponding arrow keys). When the
user reaches the last page of a guide and clicks the OK button, the
system executes one or more commands to perform the system administration
task. These commands are located in /usr/sysadm/privcmd.

Many of the guides require that a user either know the root password or
be assigned the necessary privileges (using the PrivilegeManager(1M)) in
     order to perform the task.

     Set Up and Start Networking
This task lets you set up your workstation on an existing
	       network.

The privilege needed for this task is: Configure Network

Also see configNetIf(1M) for more information.

     Turn Off Networking
This task lets you turn off networking on your workstation.

The privilege needed for this task is: Configure Network

Also see configNetIf(1M) for more information.

	       Primary Interface

Enables or disables IP forwarding: Configure IP Forwarding
Add a host to the local hosts file: Add Host

	       Also see configec0state(1M), configdefaultRoute(1M),
	       configipforwardstate(1M), addhost(1M), setNameServers(1M) for
	       more information.

     Set Up and Start NIS
This task allows you to enable Network Information Service on
your workstation. By making use of NIS, your workstation has
access to a database of information about other workstations on
	       the network.

The privileges needed for this task are: Setup NIS, Configure
	       Resolver

	       Also see nisSetup(1M), configResolver(1M).

     Turn Off NIS
This task lets you stop using Network Information Service on
	       your workstation.

The privilege needed for this task is: Setup NIS

	       Also see nisSetup(1M).

     Set Up and Start NFS
This task allows you to turn the Network File System Service
on, and choose one of Automount or AutoFS facility, for
temporarily mounting remote file systems on your workstation.

The privilege needed for this task is: Setup NFS

	       Also see nfsSetup(1M).

will no longer be able to access filesystems located on remote
	       workstations on the network.
