Digital UNIX Diffs - abort(5) Digital UNIX Diffs - abort(5)NAME
abort, atexit - Generates a software signal to end the current process
LIBRARY
Standard C Library (libc.a)
SYNOPSIS
#include <stdlib.h>
int abort ( void );
DIFFERENCESvms-process(5): OpenVMS Process Model Differences
The abort(3) function sends a SIGABRT signal to the current process.
This terminates the process and produces a memory dump, unless the sig‐
nal is caught and the signal handler does not return.
vms-vaxc(5): OpenVMS VAX C vs DEC C Differences
The functions registered by atexit(2) to be called when the program
terminates are called by the VAX C RTL when the process terminates due
to a SIGABRT signal. They are not called under these conditions in DEC
C RTL.
In the DEC C RTL, the C signal SIGABRT is defined to be equal to the
SIGIOT signal rather than to SIGILL as in the VAX C RTL.
