Digital UNIX Diffs - getenv(5) Digital UNIX Diffs - getenv(5)NAMEgetenv - Returns the value of an environment variable
LIBRARY
Standard C Library (Llibc.a)
SYNOPSIS
#include <stdlib.h>
char *getenv (
const char *name );
PARAMETERS
Specifies the name of an environment variable.
DIFFERENCESvms-system(5): OpenVMS Operating System Differences
On OpenVMS getenv(3) maps the names: HOME, TERM, PATH, and USER to the
value of the equivalent OpenVMS concept. Otherwise, if DCL is your
command line interpreter, getenv(3) checks for a logical having the
name passed and returns the value of the logical. Finding no match,
genenv(3) looks for command language interpreter symbol with the speciā
fied name and return its value.
UNIX simply returns the value of the environment variable or NULL.
