KBD(4)		 BSD Programmer's Manual (SPARC Architecture)		KBD(4)

NAME
     kbd - Sun keyboard interface

DESCRIPTION
     The Sun keyboard, whether or not it is also the console keyboard, can be
     accessed through the /dev/kbd interface. This interface implements only
     the minimal set of operations required to support the X11 server (see
     Xserver(1)).

     The device can only be opened by one process (normally the X server);
     while it is open, the keyboard cannot be used to provide console input.
     The console Stop-A (L1-A) key sequence remains active, however. The key-
     board returns to normal service (if any) automatically when the device is
     closed.

     The keyboard itself is actually a serial device attached to zs1a (see
     zs(4)). This device runs at a fixed speed of 2400 baud and is not user-
     accessible.
