getutmp(3)							    getutmp(3)

NAME
       getutmp, getutmpx - Access utmpx file entry

SYNOPSIS
       #include <utmpx.h>

       void getutmp(struct utmpx *utmpx, struct utmp *utmp);

       void getutmpx(struct utmp *utmp, struct utmpx *utmpx);

LIBRARY
       SVR4 Library (libsvr4)

PARAMETERS
       Points at the returned utmp structure.	Points to a utmpx structure to
       be placed into the user accounting database.

DESCRIPTION
       These functions provide access to the user accounting database.

       The getutmp() function copies the information stored in the fields of
       the utmp() structure. If the information in any field of utmpx() does
       not fit in the corresponding utmp() field, the data is trucated.

       The getutmpx() function copies the information stored in the fields of
       the utmp() structure to the corresponding fields of the utmpx() strucā€
       ture.

NOTES
       ESVF does not support parallel files (eg. "/var/adm/utmpx,
       /var/adm/wtmpx". In order to	provide source code compatability, the
       getutx() routines are available; however, the getutx() routines are
       actually front-ends to the corresponding getut() routines. For example,
       getutxent() reads a utmp() structure from *L/var/adm/utmp, and returns
       a c structure	filled	with the retrieved information. pututxline()
       makes a utmp() entry in	*L/var/adm/utmp, from	the supplied utmpx()
       information. See thegetut() manual for more information.

FILES
       Accounting header file that defines the format for the login database
       file.  [No parallel (utmpx/wtmpx)files supported]
