NAME
de - DEC DE500, SMC EtherPower and other DC21040/DC21140 based Ether-
     net/fast Ethernet interfaces

SYNOPSIS
     de0 at pci?
     de0 at eisa?
     de* at any?
     nsphy* at de? phy ?
     ics90p* at de? phy ?

DESCRIPTION
The de device driver provides support for PCI and EISA Ethernet cards
     based on the DEC DC21040 (10 Mb/s) and DC21140[A] (100 Mb/s) controller
chips. Cards tested are the DEC DE500 (XA and AA), SMC EtherPower 10/100
(DST and BDT models, 1 or 2 ports), SMC EtherPower, AsanteFast 10/100,
     Znyx ZX314 (4 ports), and Znyx ZX346 (4 ports).

MEDIA SELECTION
Media options available on the various supported cards are listed and ma-
nipulated via standard options to the ifconfig(8) command.

The PHY drivers are attached automatically by the de driver to manage ad-
vanced cards that use an external physical layer driver chips.

SEE ALSO
     arp(4), netintro(4), nsphy(4), isc90p(4), ifconfig(8)

BUGS
Cards based on the DEC chips supported by this driver exist that will not
work (due to differences in EEPROM layout for example).

Although full duplex operation is available at the hardware level this
driver does not allow it to be set on some cards.

AUTHOR
The de device driver is based substantially on the work of Matt Thomas.
